Ball has lived and worked in the region for many years and believes that the area has fostered and nurtured [his] career.
Balls work is inspired by his love of the Highlands landscape.
The vast countryside is pivotal as Ball makes large works for large spaces.
The sculptures work with and against nature, they may fit in harmoniously or puncture the landscape. The work explores angular, curvaceous, twisted and often gravity-defying forms.
Ball constructs his sculptures by hand which requires significant physical effort. Every angle of the work is considered during construction.
While Ball creates sculptures all over the world he always returns to the place he calls home.
Ive had a long association with the Highlands as I used to come here as a kid, he said.
Ball believes that an artists job is to inspire and astound.
You need to come up with ideas that will create wonder, he said.
To make something that affects the viewer so that there is fascination and connection.
Ive dreamed up these concepts all my life.
