Two pennant trial matches took place at Bowral Bowling Club.
It must be said the selectors will have to watch very closely the form of some players before the pennant season commences.
Rick Reynolds, Owen Williams, Bill Meredith and Robin Staples defeated Daniel Lewis, Brian Payne, Gordon Lewis and Bob Edwards 22-16.
It was not a good start for team Edwards, dropping four shots on the first end.
Most of the first half was a one sided story but then the game became close with scores level on the sixth end at 6-6.
It then became tighter at 8-8 after eight ends.
The intensity stepped up a notch and scores were 9-9 after ten ends.
Team staples got its act together in the second half of the match.
The whole team played well winning seven of the last ten ends.
Either way the victory went, it was a good work out.
The team of Bob Crowley, Richard Denman, Peter Morales and Mick Flynn defeated Glen Giese, Graham Hunt, Don Coleman and Dan Ticehurst 31-11.
It must be said the selectors will have to watch very closely the form of some players before the pennant season commences.
Somehow this match turned out to be a high scoring win for team Flynn.
After 11 ends, team Flynn had the lead 17-7.
The second half was all team Flynn and it was not lack of experience from team Ticehurst but great bowls from team Flynn.
