This follows the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the day-to-day operations of the garden.
SHBG board has appointed Charlotte Webb OAM and Chairman of SHBG as its new CEO from February 1.
The part-time, three-day-a-week role has been made possible through funding from The Paul Ramsay Foundation.
There is no change to the structure of the SHBG board, and the CEO will report to the Board.
Mrs Webb said she was excited by this development for the garden.
“We are very appreciative of the generous funding from The Paul Ramsay Foundation”, she said.
Mrs Webb said her focus would be on making the garden more accessible to the community by having it open to the public on a regular basis.
She said as a community garden, it was important to have as many community members as possible enjoy all that it had to offer.
“Our aim is to make this garden a major tourist attraction of the Southern Highlands, to have the garden a ‘must see’ destination for all visitors. It is an ambitious project and one we don’t shy away from,” she said.
“I, and the SHBG board owe a huge thanks to the Friends of the Garden and our volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to bring this project to the state it is in today – already showing good bones and some serious structure.”
The Paul Ramsay Foundation has also provided funding for a part-time administrative officer to assist the CEO role and, two years ago, funded the part-time role of development manager Ross Stone.
The search for a suitable person to fill the new administrative officer’s role will commence shortly.
