Red Cross
The Moss Vale Berrima branch of the Red Cross meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 54 Mount Broughton Road, Werai, from 2pm. The next meeting will be on February 20 and new members are welcome. The month of March is Red Cross calling month with Moss Vale and Bowral High School and Chevalier College students stepping up to help with the collection. Meanwhile the branch members would like to thank the community for all its support with raffles in 2018 and they look forward to continued support this year.

National service
The National Servicemen’s Association Southern Highlands branch will hold its annual commemorative service for past national servicemen on February 16. This will be held at the Memorial Park on the corner of Illawarra HIghway and Golden Vale Road, Sutton Forest. Form up is from 10.15am for a 10.30am service. Some seating will be available. Following the service refreshments will be available at the church hall opposite the park. The address will be given by Brigadoon Ray McCann (retired) AM OBE. Visitors are welcome to attend. Toastmasters
The Southern Highlands Toastmasters is held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Mittagong RSL Club from 7.30pm. Toastmasters provides an opportunity for people to learn how to speak in public in a relaxed environment. Details: Colin Emerson on 0429 389 744.
Morning tea and support
Every Friday morning between 10am and midday the foyer of the Mittagong Anglican Church is open to the public for free morning tea. The church’s professional barista knows how to make one of the best coffees in town. A professional counsellor offering free support to those who might want to talk privately is also available. Come and join the group and make new friends in a relaxed and warm environment. St. Stephens Church is on the corner of Station and Main Streets and has been reaching out to the community for more than 140 years.
CWA birthday
The Bowral Branch of CWA will hold its first meeting of 2019 on February 11 at 1.30 pm. New members and guests are welcome to join in a congenial atmosphere for an Information session from 12.30 – 1pm. Afternoon tea will be served with a celebration for the 94th branch birthday. The meeting will be held at the CWA rooms, 40 Wingecarribee Street, Bowral, (adjacent to Corbett Gardens). Details: Secretary 4861 5425.
Folk dance
Do you enjoy dancing or would you like to learn to dance? Here’s a great opportunity not to be missed. Dance your way around the world with folk dances taught in easy steps. Tai Chi
Test you strength and agility with Tai Chi classes held at the Mittagong Senior’s Club located next to the Mittagong Library. Classes are held each Tuesday from 1pm.
Seniors' Club
Mittagong Seniors’ Club meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 2.30pm at the Community Centre in Queen Street, Mittagong. Come for morning tea at 10am to learn more. Activities include craft, games, ukulele and various outings.
Gentle exercise
A program offering gentle exercise at a gentle pace with a focus on mobility, physical and mental stimulation is available each Thursday at the Bowral Presbyterian Church hall in Bendooley Street, Bowral. Classes are from 11.45am-12.30pm. Details: Margaret 0466 166 866 or 4861 2294.

The Southern Highlands Justice of the Peace Branch of the NSW Justice Association volunteer desks are open across the region. The weekly program is: Highlands Marketplace – Friday and Saturday January 4 and 5; Springetts Arcade Bowral - Wednesday January 9 and Supa IGA Moss Vale - Thursday January 10.
First Fleeters
The Fellowship of First Fleeters Southern Highlands Chapter will mee next on February 13 from 10.30am. This meeting will be at Mittagong Community Centre on the corner of Albert Lane and Queen Street, Mittagong. Guest speaker will be Howard Lewis, a chapter member and active supporter of the Fellowship for many years. He will give a talk entitled “An array of famous faces. Rose show
A miniature rose show will be presented by The Rose Society of NSW Inc at the Mittagong RSL Club on March 16 and 17. Entries for the exhibition close at 8pm on March 14 and can be phoned or emailed to the show secretary Ralph Parsons on 4871 0091 or ralphros@bigpond.com. The venue will be open to exhibitors from 6.30am to 9.45am on March 16 with judging beginning at 10am. All exhibitors must vacate the exhibition room during judging. The show will be open to the public from 12pm to 5pm on March 16 with the presentation of special awards at 1.30pm. The exhibition will continue on March 17 from 10am to 4pm.
