First on Taylor’s agenda is to start getting potential players to want to be at Bargo and a shift in culture.
“We have to make the club attractive to players,” Taylor said.
“We need to change our training methods so players enjoy training and that will have them enjoying the game on the weekend even more.
“If you want to play for a club that’s all about mateship, then Bargo is the team.
“We’re building a culture of friendship here, and everyone is welcomed at our club.”
With a history of coaching under his belt, Taylor knows it could be sometime before the club sees positive results on the scoreboard.
“I’ve coached a lot of junior football at Dapto and then I moved on to senior football,” Taylor said.
“There’s no expectations for this upcoming season.
“Let’s just get the club right, the foundations correct, from there we’ll build and watch the results improve as the season goes on.”
With the Bunnies not committing to certain goals for the upcoming season, there is still a strong focus on developing a pathway for the juniors to transition into the seniors and skill development.
“I’m not a believer in long runs,” Taylor said. “All you’re doing is improving your cardio. Using lateral and sideways movements with 10-15 minute skill sets, will see a player fit and develop their skills in the process.
“To set goals, we’d be putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves.
“The biggest thing we’re trying to accomplish is that Baro isn’t a one season club. I want Bargo to be a long term club.
“We need to make Bargo a happy club, we also need to look after the people that put in for the club.
“The committee, the sponsors, and the volunteers. A lot of things go into running a football club and I’m not here for one season, I’m here long term to get this club right.”
If you want to play for a club that’s all about mateship then Bargo is the team.
