To celebrate, there was live entertainment, live music, face painting, a petting zoo, the inflatable pool, and an array of different foods.
About 200 swimmers turned up to take a dip on the day.
Highlands swimmer Maria Nicolaous said the closure of the pool had been an inconvenience for her for the past three years.
“We had to take the kids down to the Bowral and Moss Vale Pool which was a hassle,” Ms Nicolaous said.
“It affected nearby schools that needed to use it, and also the local sports clubs that used it regularly.”
The pool had been closed since June 2016 after a serious storm damaged the facility.
Floodwaters penetrated beneath the base of the pools and since then, major maintenance and repairs have been underway to make sure the centre is up to scratch.
Early records indicated the site was first used for recreational swimming as early as the mid-1870s.
The pool underwent several refurbishments before being officially opened in 1931. In 1959 the baths were increased to 50 metres in size. The pool will be open from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday for the rest of the school holidays.
The pool is open from 8.30am to 6pm on Saturdays, and from 9.30am to 6pm on Sundays.
Mittagong Swimming Centre is located in Hawkins Drive, Mittagong.
