Clean Up Australia is back again, urging everyone to clean up their act and the environment.
Clean Up Australia managing director Terri-Ann Johnson said that change could start with just one volunteer making a difference in the community.
“Change starts with you. The key to success is stopping litter becoming rubbish. There are so many actions every one of us can take to stop eight million tonnes of plastic entering our oceans,” she said.
“I urge all Australians to clean up our environment and reduce waste before it is a problem.”
The official date for Clean Up Australia is Sunday, March 3, with Ms Johnson asking for groups and communities to get out there and clean up public parks and local bushland “before it does any more harm to the environment.”
Schools will run their own clean up on Friday, March 1, with youth groups taking to the streets and parks over the weekend of March 2 and 3.
