Premier for NSW, Gladys Berejiklian, said her government was committed to making it easier for customers to catch public transport.
"It’s difficult for people who use the trains at Moss Vale to get around given the amount of stairs and geography. So I am very pleased to announce that we are investing millions of dollars to upgrade the stations here," she said.
"I know how important rail services are to the community in this part of NSW and I want to stress a couple of things. Firstly, the entire diesel fleet is being replaced with modern rolling carriages.
"We're also looking to for ways which we can also have fast railway carriages."
Plans for the upgrades include a possible footbridge to the town centre and lifts to the station platform.
Ms Berejiklian said the government also intended to hold extensive community consultation.
Goulburn MP Pru Goward said the Liberal and Nationals Government was “putting its money where its mouth is” with real, on-the-ground investment, citing the slope just outside the train station as a real issue for accessibility for people with disabilities.
"We know the slope on that road is pretty tough for people with a wheelchair or even those with difficulty walking,” she said.
With work underway and a commitment in the budget, Ms Berejiklian said it was only a matter of time until the new trains would be running full steam ahead and making commuting between Sydney, Moss Vale and Goulburn easier.
Also in attendance was Liberal candidate for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman and Liberal candidate for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith.
