The Triple Zero Cricket Challenge started in 2014 and aims to raise money for a youth-focused Southern Highlands charity or organisation through a multi-team continuous cricket match between five Southern Highlands triple zero emergency service agencies.
Once again, the Bradman Foundation will host the fundraising cricket challenge which will involve NSW Police Force, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW SES.
The Rural Fire Service are the current trophy winners and have the bragging rights over the other emergency services.
While the day is played in a fun and cooperative way, all the emergency services are keen to get their hands on the much sought-after trophy.
The challenge this year will raise much-needed funds to assist the Southern Highlands Suicide Prevention Program.
The Southern Highlands Suicide Prevention Program was established in the Wingecarribee Shire with the aim of assisting people in distress to find appropriate help.
The network aims to increase the community's awareness and skills in responding to the issue of suicide through our main activities:
• Distribution of the yellow cry for help cards.
• Facilitation of Community Education Seminars and Workshops.
• Promotion of health and support in the general community and in local schools.
Mental ill health is a public health issue that affects individuals, families, workplaces and communities across Australia.
It is important to have accurate and up-to-date information about mental ill health to inform coordinated and consistent planning, policy and practice.
The event is a ‘Constant Cricket’ style tournament with the four services entering teams.
The local community is invited to attend, watch and enjoy the fun activities on offer.
All the emergency services will have exciting displays available for the community to come and interact with.
The Triple Zero Cricket Challenge will run from 9am to 3pm.
