Toastmasters
The Southern Highlands Toastmasters will take a break over the Christmas and New Year period. The group will restart on January 28, 2019. From that point the members will resume meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Mittagong RSL Club from 7.30pm. Morning tea and support
Every Friday morning between 10am and midday the foyer of the Mittagong Anglican Church is open to the public for free morning tea. The church’s professional barista knows how to make one of the best coffees in town. A professional counsellor offering free support to those who might want to talk privately is also available. Come and join the group and make new friends in a relaxed and warm environment. St. Stephens Church is on the corner of Station and Main Streets and has been reaching out to the community for more than 140 years.
Craft morning
The first get together for 2019 of CWA Bowral branch craft group will be on February 5 from 10am to midday. If you have recently moved to the Highlands and are looking to meet people, this is a fun and friendly environment while honing your craft skills. CWA birthday
The Bowral Branch of CWA will hold its first meeting of 2019 on February 11 at 1.30 pm. New members and guests are welcome to join in a congenial atmosphere for an Information session from 12.30 – 1pm. Afternoon tea will be served with a celebration for the 94th branch birthday. Tai Chi
Test you strength and agility with Tai Chi classes held at the Mittagong Senior’s Club located next to the Mittagong Library. Classes are held each Tuesday from 1pm.
Seniors' Club
Mittagong Seniors’ Club meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 2.30pm at the Community Centre in Queen Street, Mittagong. Come for morning tea at 10am to learn more. Activities include craft, games, ukulele and various outings.
Disability Trust Art Exhibition
The Disability Art Trust is hosting the “Access All Art” exhibition at the Bowral Art Gallery. The exhibit features painting creations by the Mittagong Club Trust art group and runs 10am to 4pm daily from January 9 to 15. Opening night will be Friday, January 11 at 5pm. JP services
The Southern Highlands Justice of the Peace Branch of the NSW Justice Association has wrapped up for 2018 with volunteers taking a Christmas/New Year break. Due to public request and support from venue management all JP desks will re-open earlier in 2019. Re-opening times are: Mittagong Market Place – Friday and Saturday January 4 and 5; Springetts Arcade Bowral - Wednesday January 9 and Supa IGA Moss Vale - Thursday January 10.
Floral arts
The NSW Floral Art Association Inc Floral Design Competition and Demonstrations will be held on February 1 and 2, 2019, at Mittagong RSL Club on the corner of Old Hume Highway and Bessemer Street, Mittagong. The event will run from 9.45am to 4.30pm on the Friday and from 10am to 12.30pm on Saturday. The program includes a display of floral designs by highly qualified exhibitors and various floral art demonstrations including Ikebana by Vesna Isik, a sought after Ikebana designer and teacher who travels extensively to bring new ideas and techniques to her classes.
