Safety improvements will see one lane of the Illawarra Highway closed east of Clover Hill Road, with traffic lights in place at all times, from Monday until February 8.
The work – to widen the road shoulder, install guardrails and resurface the road – will be done from 7am to 5pm, weather permitting.
The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced to 40km/h.
Meanwhile, there will be additional lane closures on the highway east of Mount Murray Road on weekdays from January 30 to February 15
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place.
Motorists will be able to proceed in one direction at a time during working hours. All lanes will be open on weekends.
That work will involve widening shoulders, installing guardrail and improving drainage.
“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokeswoman said.
“Please allow up to an additional 10 minutes travel time past both worksites.”
