Every Tuesday or Thursday, a walking group led by volunteer Mardi Cheesley, meets at 10am, no matter their level of fitness.
The Tuesday group meet at the strat of the Cherry Tree walk in Bowral, while the Thursday group meet at the Lake Alexandra carpark.
There are more than 20 regular walkers since the group was formed by Mardi in 2006 and new walkers are always welcomed.
The line of walkers extends to include the fast and fit and also the slower who are more comfortable with a meandering pace.
Some participants use the walk was a way of meeting people, others use it as a time out and a place to receive support during times of difficulty.
It has also been used as a form of rehabilitation by some, for example after a heart attack where fitness was their focus, but where they could feel safe if something went wrong because they walked with others.
Paid, voluntary and family carers have also attended the walk with the person they are caring for, utilising it for both of them as a social outing or respite time.
