The Holiday Time: Slow Down, Kids Around campaign was established in 2014 following the tragic death of Tom McLaughlin in a pedestrian road accident during a family holiday.

Tom’s parents, Michelle and David, founded the foundation to work with local councils to ensure community safety during holiday periods.
“We are excited to be working with Wingecarribee Shire Council again this year to continue this vital children’s road safety campaign,” Michelle said.
Mayor Duncan Gair urged motorists to heed the campaign and slow down over the summer break.
“Our children and grandchildren are our most valuable road users and the holidays provide an opportunity to remind them of the importance of road safety,” Cr Gair said.
“Children can become quickly caught up in the holiday spirit and forget to take care around roads.”
