Jack Hatcher has received a scholarship to the Illawarra Academy of Sport within the Lone Star category, in water polo.
The opportunity arose with help from his mum and dad.

“They saw that the Illawarra Academy of Sport had the Lone Star scholarship available and they applied for me.”
Many years of hard work have got Jack to where he is now and he’s a chip off the old block.
“I’ve played water polo for seven years,” Jack said.
“My dad plays water polo and I got into the sport through him.”
Jack can’t wait for the opportunity to learn and grow as a sportsman. His next year will be packed with more then just training.
“For the next 12 months I’ll be a learning about theory, self management, nutrition and of course fitness and training,” he said.
Jack believes the scholarship will help him grow as person.
“It’ll help me with my over all attitude towards the game,” Jack said.
“In certain situations throughout the game, I can get angry and very passionate, it will help me relax so I can play at a higher level.”
On hearing he was was receiving a scholarship from Illawarra, the emotions poured out.
“I was really happy when I received the scholarship,” Jack said.
“I was overwhelmed when I first heard I got the scholarship but I’m really happy I got it.
“I think it will be a great opportunity for me to learn new things about water polo and develop, I can’t wait to start.
