The Sharks were too strong for the Mariners and a very strong second half performance gave them a 7-3 win.
The Sharks struck early and took a 2-1 lead into the first break.
The Mariners reversed the result in the second quarter and the scores were locked up 3-3 at halftime. The Sharks were spurred on in the second half and began to circle the Mariners ominously.
Their defence tightened and their attack sharpened, as they put two goals into the net in each of the last two quarters and at the same time kept the Mariners scoreless.
Mariners had no answers in the second half against the Sharks relentless attack with Sharks finishing strongly to take the day.
An understrength Polar Bears found the Dolphins too slick as they went down 9-2.
The Dolphins were too hard to handle in all areas and set up their win with a very strong first half.
After four goals in the first quarter, followed by two in the second quarter, the Dolphins looked very comfortable at 6-0.
The Polar Bears were simply out gunned by the Dolphins, who posted three more goals in the third period of the game.
The Polar Bears didn’t give up and managed two goals to nil in the final period for the final 9-2 scoreline.
The story wasn’t much better for Polar Bears in B grade with the Dolphins running out winners 6-1.
The Polar Bears held the Dolphins to 0-0 in the first quarter.
The Dolphins were slowly building momentum and they took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
This pressure continued with two goals being scored in the third period and three goals in the final period for their six goals.
The Polar Bears could only find the net once for their lone goal in the final period.
Oxley Blue played Oxley Gold and it was a very close game going 6-5 the way of Oxley Blue.
After a 5-5 draw in their first encounter, another close game wasn’t a surprise.
The game was the most exciting one of the evening.
Oxley Gold was kept scoreless in the first period while Oxley Blue scored one goal.
Tijmen Regan then went on a scoring spree in the second period.
He scored four goals in the second period along with Ben Morton’s second goal of the game, to give Oxley Blue a very comfortable 6-1 halftime lead.
Oxley Gold rallied in the second half to pull back two goals in the third period and another two in the final period which put them in a position to snatch another draw with very little time left on the clock.
Despite having a couple of chances the Oxley Blue defence held and they took the points 6-5.
Mariners grabbed their chance, to win 5-0 over an understrength Horton's Heroes.
The Mariners were even and methodical in their win scoring goals in each of the four quarters with the extra one coming in the final period.
It was a good night to meet the Horton’s Heroes as they were without many of their top players.
