Goulburn MP Pru Goward is encouraging all residents to get a copy of Seniors’ Stories Volume 4, which includes over 100 inspiring short stories written by seniors.

“Older people have so much to offer and I think it is wonderful 100 seniors have been given the chance to share their stories with others,” Ms Goward said.

“I would urge everyone to download a copy of the book or head to the library to read a copy which is set to make you laugh, cry and be inspired.”

Two seniors from Moss Vale and two from Bundanoon were authors featured in the volume.

Morag Rasmussen wrote about how life changes with a poem about her experience as a senior, and Margaret Symonds about the lasting impact a student and teacher made on each other’s lives.

Annie Crawford from Bundanoon was also featured in the volume, her poetic prose describes life with a difficult decision. Another Bundanoon resident, Jane Irwin, writes about a journey of loss.

“As I approach my eighties I still have lots to do - New challenges to tackle new hobbies to pursue - I am the kind of granny who lives life to the full - Loving, living, laughing there really is no rule!” Ms Rasmussen wrote.

Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies launched the fourth instalment of the much-loved publication while celebrating with its authors at an event at NSW Parliament.

“This book not only gives seniors the chance to bring their precious stories to life, but it allows them to show off their writing skills and connect with others,” Ms Davies said.

“Society can benefit from the wisdom and knowledge of our seniors and this book allows older people to pass on their stories to younger generations to enjoy as well.”
