If you get injured on the job or in a public place and sustain a serious injury you may be entitled to compensation.
To find out if you can make a claim, it is important to speak to a lawyer who is experienced in compensation and personal injury law.
RMB Lawyers has accredited specialist compensation lawyers who are dedicated to assisting injured people obtain compensation following an accident.
They represent people who have been injured as a result of:
- An accident at work.
- An accident involving a motor vehicle, boat or bike.
- Having developed an asbestos related disease after being exposed to asbestos.
- Slipping, tripping and falling in places such as supermarkets, shops, rented premises, private property, schools and other places which are either open to the public or into which they have been invited privately.
- Medical treatment which has gone wrong.
- Sexual and other assaults by a member of any institution.
- Being assaulted when in public houses such as pubs and clubs (in some circumstances).
“Every claim is different and success often depends upon the fine details of how one came to be injured,” Chris Sheppard, compensation division leader at RMB Lawyers said.
“RMB Lawyers can help claimants throughout the entire process from virtually the time of the accident, right through until the claim is resolved by way of a payment of compensation to them.”

It is vital that the claim is lodged early, correctly and takes into account one’s personal circumstances.
“Claims for accidents involving a motor vehicle are ideally made within 28 days of the accident. Work injuries need to be reported as soon as possible following the accident and a formal claim made within six months of the date of the accident,” Mr Sheppard said.
“Claims can be made after six months but valid and acceptable reasons have to be given for doing so. Asbestos claims can be started at any time and are not subject to limitation periods. All other types of claims should be made within three years of the date of the event which caused the injury. Again, extensions of this three year period can be applied for, but it is safer to make sure you claim within this time frame.”
Injuries sustained in an accident can often lead to financial hardship and significant changes to one’s life in general (e.g. by not being able to work, enjoy recreational activities etc), RMB Lawyers will ensure they get the treatment they require and obtain the financial support that they are entitled to by law. Many injured people who often have a valid claim do not pursue it because they are concerned about the legal costs they may incur.
