Robertson and Bundanoon Public Schools will each receive a share of $7000 to implement environmental education initiatives.
They are among 86 schools across NSW to share in more than $300,000 funding through the 2018 round of the Eco Schools Grant Program.
Goulburn MP Pru Goward said Robertson and Bundanoon Public Schools would each recieve a $3500 Eco Schools Grant to encourage environmental learning opportunities for students, teachers and the school community.
“Eco School’s projects provide hands-on, curriculum-based environmental education for students, with a focus on strong student participation.”
“The grant will fund Robertson Public’s Outdoor Garden Classroom that will provide the opportunity for teachers, and the community to engage with students across all curriculum areas within an interactive outdoor space.
“It will also fund Bundanoon Public’s Nature Trail Connections which is a redesign of the school grounds featuring with multiple outdoor-learning areas.”.
Environment minister Gabrielle Upton said the Eco Schools grants would help young people to learn and value the natural environment.
“The school children participating in these grassroots environmental projects will learn skills for sustainable living, and develop an appreciation for their local environment,” she said.
“These grants help to educate students on the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.”
