Proposed change to Mittagong DCP
Councillors will consider changes to the Mittagong Development Control Plan (DCP) which could allow a residential development of up to five storeys. The proponent for the development seeks an amendment to introduce site specific provisions into the DCP which could enable councillors to approve the development set to include a mix of affordable housing, seniors living and residential apartments. The land, consisting of 15 individual lots bounded by Rainbow Road, Brewster Street, the Old Hume Highway and Mineral Springs Reserve, is currently zoned R3 Medium Density Residential. A report from council staff recommends council provide in principle support for the proposal and staff work with the proponent to prepare more detailed designs as the proposal is “seeking a significant increase in density which has the potential to impact on the character and amenity of the area”.
