Bowral Blacks will head into the Brumbies Super 7s finals ranked second after a strong performance in round three of the competition.
The Blacks travelled to Yass over the weekend where they won all four of their matches convincingly.
Bowral defeated ACT Wests 12-5 in the first game and then later in the day 24-5.
They also won against Tuggeranong Vikings 35-10 and won by forfeit after the Vikings had a few injuries heading into the second match.
Blacks coach Nicholas Combes said the team had played well all day.
“They hardly let any team get over the top of them,” he said.
“They scored some really good tries and there was good use of the ball through the hands.”
This weekend the finals will be held in Wagga Wagga.
Combes said the Blacks were ranked second behind ACT Wests.
And while he was confident the girls could take out the competition, Combes said it would not be easy.
He said ACT Royals, ACT Wests and Jindabyne would be the teams to beat, with all three having Brumbies schoolgirl representatives and Brumbies Academy players in their sides.
“It’s a really tough competition but our girls have really stepped up. If they play the way they did on the weekend, they’ll be difficult to beat.”
