O’Shannessy was recently selected for Cricket Australia’s (CA) 2018-19 NSW pathways rookie squad.
He was one of 12 to make the state squad.
“The CA Pathways Rookie Squad is now entering its fourth season, and gives our emerging male players the opportunity to develop both as cricketers and young men,” CA pathways manager Graham Manou said.
O’Shannessy has also become one of the first people to receive the Basil Sellers scholarship.
He received the award as he was the leading wicket-taker at the male under-17 national championships last season with 16 scalps at an average of 13.63.
In addition to this, O’Shannessy has been named as a part of the under-19 ACT/NSW country squad representing the greater Illawarra.
He will play as a part of the squad in the national championships will be held from December 3 to 13 in Adelaide.
