Highlands won the match, played on October 28, by 114 runs.
After a loss to Illawarra in round one, the team welcomed some extra players into the squad and captain Nathan Wright said they had more bowling depth for the match against Shoalhaven.
“We didn’t back our ability against Illawarra,” he said.
The Highlands finished at 9-329 from its 50 overs before dismissing their opponents for 215.

“Everyone really stood up and showed why they won the Burns Cup last year,” Wright said.
“I think they’ll be pretty keen to play again next year.”
Illawarra went on to claim the 2018 Burns Cup after it defeated South Coasr in the final.
Having not faced Illawarra before, Wright said he expected the Highlands side to produce a more confident performance against them in next year’s competition.
