Up against Camden Red Sox Roughnecks, it was a close match with the home side going down 17-13 in round seven of the Macarthur Baseball League.
In the Saturday Seniors Pool A match, the Shelbys were able to finally play the opening home game of the season with a warm and windy Jurd Park, along with team mascot Shelby welcoming the team on Saturday.
Things started extremely well for the Stars with a tight first innings in the field followed by a sizzling first time at bat, leaving the Shelbys up 5-3.
A smart pitching change by the Red Sox then left the Stars searching for hits, with the Roughnecks finding plenty of extra bases through Stars errors and smart running.
In the end, the Red Sox team got too much leverage and put the game out of the Stars' reach at the top of the fourth innings, although the Shelbys brought respectability back into the scoreline with a five run innings at the end.
The Star for the Shelbys was Ramon Perez, returning after many weeks off but showing no signs of 'rust', making critical plays from Short Stop, hitting two runs in off a three-base hit to start the scoreboard ticking again mid-game, and closing out the match as Pitcher.
In the Lee Richardson Cup division two competition, the Southern Stars Bombers were up against Bankstown Sport.
After the serious heat of Friday, November 2, the Bombers arrived at a blustery and cooling Boggabilla Reserve (Lansdowne) to take on the local side.

The match started strongly for the Stars.
Andrew Glassington's pitching once again puzzled the opposition batters, while solid support from the field, notably by recent arrival Steve Pettit at Short Stop, kept Bankstown to zero in the first innings.
The Bombers then put three runs on the board and were starting to take control of the game when the heavens opened, bringing a spectacular light show with it.
The umpires led the players from the field and after 30 minutes of delay, a restart was attempted.
This lasted only five more minutes as the rain intensified, ending play for the night.
With not enough playing time completed, no result was recorded.
