Water Polo clinics prove popular
The junior water polo competition has been popular for many years.
Water polo is physically demanding but at the same time, with impact of the ground taken out, the risk of injury is dramatically reduced.
This season, thanks to the efforts of the Balla family, Jenny,Alan, Lauren and Elise, and with support from Southern Highlands Water Polo, two clinics and regular Wednesday training sessions are underway.
Seventy-five players and parents have registered to develop their water polo skills and abilities.
The Saturday clinics worked on specific water polo skills and introduced parents to the sport.
For player participants, the skills of throwing, catching, passing, positional play and of course shooting, were all practised.
Players were schooled in developing an understanding of the rules of the game.
Parents were taken through the rules and the roles they could be asked to assist with in officiating at games.
The support of parents, like any junior sport, is integral for a successful competition.
The clinics are followed up with additional training at the Frensham Pool on Wednesday evenings.
The junior competition has been well supported with the competitions running on a Tuesday evenings in 12s,14s and 16 years divisions.
