The interview will take place before a screening of Davis’ new film Book Week, which opened in cinemas on October 25.
Inspired by his own experience as a high school English teacher, Davis said Book Week tells the story of a “cantankerous English teacher and disgraced author must show he’s a changed man if his latest manuscript is to be published.”
“The script was first penned in 2010 during my time as a frustrated high school English teacher doggedly trying to get his first feature film made whilst reluctant to accept the idea that my lifelong dream may never eventuate,” Davis said.
As it turned out, Davis did move on to a career in film and made the 2015 film Broke, which was highlighted in The Guardian’s Top 10 Australian films of 2016.
“After the emotionally taxing experience of making a movie like Broke, I thought it would be refreshing to make something comedic," Davis said.

“My ultimate vision for Book Week is to create a distinctive and endearing Australian comedy with the potential to attract an audience both at home and aboard,” he said.
