Southern Highlands police have urged residents to be vigilant after a Bowral man discovered a “suspicious” man in his backyard.

On Thursday morning at about 10.20am, a man was home at a residence on Kimberley Drive in Bowral when he heard footsteps outside.
The resident looked out of his window and saw a man, aged 18 to 20 and wearing a black hoodie, in his backyard.

When the resident walked outside into the backyard, the man ran away.
Southern Highlands Police Officer-in-Charge Inspector John Klepczarek asked residents in the area to be vigilant.
“Police are asking people to be vigilant and keep their homes secure,” Inspector Klepczarek said.
“Sometimes we get used to living in such a wonderful part of the world that we leave our doors and windows open.
“It is important to remember that some people are up to no good.”
