Highlands athletes recently competed at two carnivals where they came home with lots of medals and Personal Bests.
Seven athletes took part in the Doonside carnival with some excellent results.
At the Lake Illawarra carnival, 14 athletes competed and finished with 23 medals.
The season began on October 12 and competition evenings will run on Fridays at Eridge Park, beginning at 5pm for Tiny Tots, under-6 and under-7 age groups and at 5.30pm for all other children.
Doonside carnival
- Lilea Seville (U10 G)– 3rd in hurdles and PB 12.09, PB in 200m
- Bela Seville (U13 G)– 2 new Pb’s in 100m and 400m
- Kemp Seville ( U14 B) – 3rd in Javelin and PB 19.08m and PB in 100m
- Matthew Arregui (U11 B) – won his heat in 100m and got 3rd in his heat running up an age group in 200m - awaiting final results
- Luke Arregui (U13 b) – competed in 100m, 200m (running up an age group)
- Ruby Blake (U10 G) – 3rd in 800m, 3rd in long jump and won her heat in 200m and 100m but overall result unknown
- Evie Blake (U8 G) – 2nd in 700m with new PB, 4th in discus with new PB, 10th in Long jump
Lake Illawarra carnival
- Tiny Tot: Zami Burgess– participation ribbon
- Under-6: Ace Burgess– 6 medals
- Under-6: Summer Hewson– 3 medals
- Under-8: Jax Burgess– participation ribbon
- Under-8: Indy Hewson– participation ribbon
- Under-8: Evie Blake– 1 medal
- Under-9: Livie Marks– participation ribbon
- Under-10: Ruby Blake– 3 medals
- Under-10: Lilea Seville– 1 medal
- Under-10: Georgie Marks– participation ribbon
- Under-11: Matthew Arregui– 3 medals
- Under-13: Luke Arregui– 1 medal
- Under-13: Bela Seville– participation ribbon
- Under-14: Kemp Seville– 6 medals
The club will be looking to build on its successful 2017-18 season, where nine of its athletes qualified for State Championships and a young quartet of long jumpers won a gold medal at State Relays, breaking a NSW record along the way.
