One part of the ‘Guitar Revolution, the Col and Alec Guitar show’, is Colin Clarke and for as long as he can remember he has been fascinated by the guitar.
“As a small child I was interested in seeing people play such as street performers or musicians on television,” Colin said.

“I got older and I got an understanding of the music produced from the guitar and started to listen to guitar music.
“As a teenager I liked seeing electric guitar legends like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Chuck Berry, AC/DC and Santana.”
Most guitarist influences are recognisable in name and sound. Colin’s inspiration was an old mentor.
“My biggest influence was my mentor Victor Martinez,” Colin said.
“I was fortunate enough to perform with him a lot and learn a lot of his original compositions.
“He taught me a lot about composition and experimentation.
“Completely separate to that, my big influences have been Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Tommy Emmanuel is a big influence to me as a performer.”
After a long break from music, Colin felt he had burnt himself out mentally, after years of work, trying to perfect his craft, the passion began to fizzle.
“My technique was failing and my passion for the instrument was lost,” Colin said.
In the last couple of years Colin began writing music again and the passionate flame of creation reignited.
“I have written so much great music in the last 12 months and I’m really excited to be showcasing it,” Colin said.
“The highlight of my career is right now. I am at the best I have ever been with my music, which is really great because I thought it was all lost.”
Colin and Alec’s Guitar Revolution show has gained traction elsewhere in NSW.
“Alec and I have become quite popular in Canberra and we’ve been having a lot of fun performing our own shows,” Colin said.
“We are two very different guitarist and performers. I think that is what makes this show so entertaining.”
The guitar revolution will invade Bowral Bowling Club’s premises in November. Originally from Bowral Colin hopes to get his vision across to his hometown.
“We are doing something completely different to anything that is out there,” Colin said.
“A conscious effort has been made to make a show out of the afternoon rather than it being a series of random songs.
“We will be showing off our extreme technical skills and quick finger work on the guitar as well as showcasing music with beautiful melodies, phrasing and warmth.”
Guitar Revolution, The Col and Alec Guitar Show, will be held at the Bowral Bowling Club, on November 11 at 5:30pm.
Tickets are $15 each and will be available at the door and through the Bowral Bowling Club website.
