Playing at Stephens Park, Bowral had first use of the crease and proved they were ready to make a statement with the bat.
Bowral had reached 100 runs at drinks without losing a wicket.
At the end of the innings, Bowral was 3-252.
Nathan Hutt was unlucky not to bring up his century after he was run out on 99.
Mitch Stanmore (62) combined with Hutt for a 121 run opening partnership, with Max Mitchie (48) also making some handy runs.
Bowral captain Phil Sherley said it was a comfortable win and a much better start to the season than last year.
“It was good that a couple of younger guys got runs and got some confidence,” he said.
“Our batsmen batted positively and we look forward to the next game.”
With only 10 players available for the match, Mittagong finished at 9-149 after the 29th over.
After a slow start the Lions were 2-122 at drinks but lost a few wickets after the break.
Jo Brake was the pick of the bowlers for Bowral, taking 5-19 from five overs and at one stage was on a hat-trick.
With the bye in round one, it was the first time the Lions had played together.
Mittagong captain Mark Chance said he was happy with performance.
“It was our first match together. I was pretty happy with 150 on the board.”
With a few experienced players in the side, Chance said there were also several players who were new to the sport including two men who had never played a game of grade cricket before.

He said Claire Mellish had bowled well to finish with figures of 0-19 from four overs.
Mittagong was without two experienced batsmen who are expected to return for the round three match against Mittagong Roar on Saturday.
‘We look forward to getting our strongest team on the pitch [this] Saturday and we should put in a good show.”
The Roar’s match against Bundanoon was washed out and Bowral Blues Bucks had the bye.
The match between Wingello and Bowral Blues Stags went ahead with the Tigers also claiming their second win of the season.
The Tigers won the toss and sent the Stags in to bat at Bill O’Reilly Oval.
Bowral Blues posted a total of 91 from 33.3 overs.
Josh Carroll-Fajada was the only batsman to contribute many runs, scoring 35 before he was dismissed.
Priyan Wikramanayake (16) and captain Darren James (10) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures for Bowral Blues.
“Wingello played well but it was a bit of a disappointing performance,” James said.
“We only really had one bloke that went on with the bat. There was some good tight bowling from Wingello.”
Roddy Acton finished with three wickets for Wingello with Rachel Martin and Will Simpson claiming two apiece.
The Tigers lost just three wickets as they reached the target of 92 runs after 21 overs for a seven wicket win.
James said the Stags gave away too many sundries- 21 in total.
“When you do that and you’re trying to defend a small scored it makes it that much harder,” he said.
“We need to pick up our fielding a bit. There were a couple of catches that were 50/50 but Wingello seemed to take their chances. We also need to take our time, get ourselves into the innings and try to bat out the 40 overs.”
