This week is National Carers Week (October 14 to 20) and we’ll be tipping our hats to those who look after others.
We have a morning tea organised and will be making a big deal about the often unsung heroes.
Especially in a demographic of older people, their presence is a big deal.
They look after all the little things.
It is them that keep the world going around.
This brings me to the importance of your health.
Looking after you, and eating the right food, needs to start at home.
Take small steps to change your habits.
Now is the time to get back outside working in the garden and walking around the block.
Check in on your mates and family.
I don’t think there is any particular way to start the conversation with a loved one about their health but it is important to have them.
Preparation works continue for the $65 million Bowral & District Hospital redevelopment.
Our next big milestone is when we go out to tender.
Once the successful major works tender has been decided, work will start shortly after.
The redevelopment includes a clinical service building with more purpose-built spaces for care.
We look forward to sharing the exciting project with the residents as we shape a space that will serve the community well into the future.
We should be opening the new ambulance ramp in the next few weeks too.
And, a big thank you to Jim Wall for hosting the automotive car show on the weekend in Mittagong, where all proceeds went to the hospital.
It is wonderful to have such tremendous support in the community.
