It’s particularly pleasing to read feedback on what some of our first subscribers say were their reasons for signing up and what they appreciate most about local independent journalism.
Those who were quick off the mark Tuesday morning included a Highlands tradie. We reached out to thank him for his commitment and to ask what it was about the Southern Highland News that saw them happy to subscribe.
He said as a tradie he sometimes found it difficult to leave the job site to go into town to buy the newspaper but he still loved to keep up with all the news of the community. He said that he appreciated that he could get all that news, sport and more simply and easily on his phone.
“I also like the option of the Digital Print Edition that offers the print version of the newspaper in an online form,” he said.

Everyone reads the local paper – and the website – for different reasons and comes to it with differing viewpoints, backgrounds, interests.
What we strive to achieve on a daily basis is to tell the stories of this wonderful and diverse region in a way that entices as many people as possible to be part of our audience. We aim to be informative, engaging, honest and accurate.
What we ask is for those who value local independent journalism to come on the journey with us and ensure it has a future through contributing via a subscription.
For only $3 a week – even less if you sign up for a year – you will get unlimited access to all the local news, sport and opinion published on southernhighlandnews.com.au as well as a comprehensive feed of national news and sport, lifestyle and travel.
As a bonus available to subscribers, there is now also an “e-edition” of the Southern Highland News, a digital replica of the newspaper for those who enjoy the look of the paper but the experience of reading it via their phone, tablet or desktop computer.
To those who have already signed up, a sincere thank you. Our communities are the reason we do this work and we really appreciate your continued support.
For those who haven’t, please try us out – you get five articles free each month before needing to commit to a subscription. Given we’ve had subscriptions in place for more than a week now, we assume many of you are beginning to hit that limit (or have already), and we promise it’s worth your time and dollars if you choose to keep coming back for more.
