Mary-Anne rarely socialised outside of work aside from with her family. When Mary-Anne commenced with Interchange Australia her goals included being able to be as independent as possible, to get fit and to be able to stand up. She also wanted to develop a social network.
Mary-Anne currently receives a variety of support services and participates in many of the activities Interchange Australia offers. Her favourite activities are the ones where she is able to meet and socialise with other people who have similar interests. These include the Bronte to Clovelly Walk, Frozen on Ice, The Circus Workshop, Christmas in July and the 60’s Rock and Roll Dinner Group. Mary-Anne also attends our Day Options Program at our Springett and Travis campuses three days per week where she enjoys activities such as art, cooking, Zumba and the odd barbecue.
In Mary-Anne’s downtime, she receives one-on-one support to attend and participate in exercise physiology classes at ONTRAC, swimming at the Aquatic Centre in Moss Vale and trips to Macarthur Square and Mount Annan Botanical Gardens. She also fits in the occasional movie.
Mary-Anne has achieved her goal to get fit and with all of the hard work she has put in at ONTRAC, she was able to stand up for the first time in 2016. She has developed a social network and has forged many strong friendships. She is extremely grateful for all of the opportunities and supports that have been provided to her and we have all been delighted to see her achieve her goals. Congratulations Mary-Anne on all of your achievements.
