Eschalot owner/chef Richard Kemp has left his multi-award-winning restaurant to pursue new projects.
Mr Kemp still owns E2 in Berrima, which has been re-branded as the Stone Room.
He is currently putting his energy into a live music program at the venue.
Mr Kemp said it was the right time to leave Eschalot.
“Everything has an expiration date. I thought it was better to leave on a high,” he said.
Under Mr Kemp’s leadership, the Berrima restaurant won more than 40 awards.
Mr Kemp said all of the success can be attributed to “amazing” staff over the years.
This includes Eliza Overduin, Simone Wilson and chefs David Learmonth and Joel Bickford.
He also acknowledged the community for its support.
“I’d like to thank all my staff and local customers that supported us for all of these years," he said.
Mr Kemp is still developing the Stone Room in the region, but is currently looking to commit to the right opportunity in Sydney or overseas.

Braemar business secures place in national business growth program
Braemar manufacturing business Austruss has been accepted into the ANZ’s national business growth program.
The business is one of 10 small-to-medium businesses to be accepted into the nine-month program.
Austruss financial controller Lisa Fowler said that the company’s key challenge was balancing innovation with ensuring cash flow across the product development cycle.
“We’re leading the way as an innovative product supplier to the construction industry, which means balancing product development and maintaining sales at the same time,” Ms Fowler said.
“We’re looking forward to digging deep into our business model and understanding what we need to do to ensure our success in the future.”
The program aims to give businesses the opportunity to define a business plan, access face-to-face mentoring as well as learn about the stages of growth, the changing role of the CEO and the importance of delegation.
The construction industry is transforming significantly and innovation is crucial to Austruss’ future.
