This will take place at Mittagong Public School on Saturday, September 29.
The aim is to broaden the demographic of participants and audiences of live jazz music, and make an underrepresented genre of music more accessible to a greater number of people in regional NSW.
This concert also enables students to engage with and learn from world class musicians.
The student workshop will run from 1pm to 2pm followed by a jazz concert 2pm to 5pm.
The program includes an afternoon workshop open to all music students in the region (up to 20 students), followed by a jazz concert with professional musicians.
The feature band is the house band from the Sunday Sessions Jazz, another of Sh! Jazz’s initiatives.
The band is made up of Ben Jones on reeds and vocals, David Seidel on double bass, Peter Locke on piano and Josh Morgan on drums.
The Mittagong Public School band will also perform on the day.
All members of the community are welcome to attend this free concert.
A diverse range of students attending the workshop. Schools include Moss Vale High, Bowral High School, Southern Highlands Christian School and Oxley College.
