From September 22 to 23 NSW Rural Fire brigades will host more than 600 events across the state featuring firefighting vehicle displays, information stands, children’s activities and workshops.
Rural Fire Service community safety officer Inspector David Stimson said the open days were an opportunity for residents to receive advice from firefighters to prepare for the upcoming bushfire season. “This is a good opportunity for locals to come down, meet the firefighters and get the advice they need so their homes are prepared for the season ahead,” Mr Stimson said. “The outlook for the next three months is going to be challenging [due to the weather conditions and lack of rain]. Residents should obtain a bushfire survival plan [via the NSW RFS website] and it is most important they have a conversation with their families [about the plan].”
