The School Fun-Run is an annual event that has been running for 31 years and raised more than $100 million in that time.
Schools last year raised more than $4.3 million nationally, with more than $1.3 million coming from NSW alone.
Parent at St Michael’s, Liz Martinovic, who is coordinaing the event said students have so far enjoyed setting their fundraising goals.
“Our students have been involving family and friends in their fundraising efforts for new iPads, while they gear up for our Fun-Run,” Liz said.
The School Fun-Run aims to connect local schools with the wider community to raise vital funds for schools while promoting student health and financial education as well as helping children learn about setting and achieving financial goals and establishing healthy habits that will stay with them throughout their lives.
This year more than 280,000 students will participate in the run, collectively running 560,000km – the equivalent of running 13 times around the world.
Parents, families, neighbours and local businesses have offered their support and donated to St Michael's students who will be getting fit and having fun in the name of fundraising for their school.
