She was a remarkable young woman who radiated such beauty.
The annual charity run raises money for batyr, an organisation focused on changing the conversation around mental health for high school and university students.
Joshua Dundas, a friend of Harriet, said she was as a much loved member of the Southern Highlands community and active member of batyr.
“She was a remarkable young woman who radiated such beauty. The connections made since her passing have been passionate and memories continue to shape people left behind,” Mr Dundas said.
batyr member Sarah Crosby said they had decided to continue the memorial leg after receiving a positive response from the community.
“A good friend of Harriet’s started the event last year and after receiving such positive feedback, we decided to continue it. Harriet was passionate about Civic2Surf and it’s a meaningful way for us to come together to support batyr,” Ms Crosby said.
Harriet’s parents Fiona and Ralph Nixon attended and spoke about what the memorial has meant to their family.
“We are so humbled and grateful for you all being here. I’m really proud of the remarkable kids who created this event and to our community; you’ve been extraordinary to us,” Ms Nixon said.
