The Mittagong branch of CWA will hold its monthly meeting in the rooms in Winifred West Park, Old Hume Highway, Mittagong on August 22. Activities will include handicraft (knitting) at 11.00 am followed by lunch at midday and the meeting from 1pm. Details: Beverley on 4871 1483.

Street stall
Moss Vale CWA will hold a Father's Day street stall on August 24, at the newsagency between BDCU and Nick Knowles the chemist. It will be selling lots of home made cakes, biscuits, slices, jams, chutneys and more as well as a few craft items and books. Come along and grab some great home baked goodies - all your favourites will be there. Selling will begin at about 8.30am and all proceeds go towards the branch’s projects in the Moss Vale community. Can Assist fundraiser
It's been years since Johnny English last hit the screens and now he's back. On Thursday, September 20, Can Assist will present a screening of the new movie Johnny English Strikes Again. Starring Rowan Atkinson and Olga Kurylenko, the movie follows the mission of British Spy Johnny English as he is forced out of retirement and back into the action in order to discover the identity of a mastermind hacker. This screening will be run to help raise money for local cancer patients and their families. Tickets are available now at the Empire Cinema box office for $25 which includes refreshments. The evening will get underway at 6pm.
Busy Bees
Busy Bees Playgroup meets at the Mittagong Uniting Church 1-7 Albert St, Mittagong, each Friday during the school term. The playgroup is held in the church hall from 10.30am.
Tai Chi
Test you strength and agility with Tai Chi classes held at the Mittagong Senior’s Club located next to the Mittagong Library. Classes are held each Tuesday from 1pm.
Seniors' Club
Mittagong Seniors’ Club meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 2.30pm at the Community Centre in Queen Street, Mittagong. Come for morning tea at 10am to learn more. Activities include craft, games, ukulele and various outings.
Bible lessons
Casual, flexible and free seminars on learning to read the Bible effectively are available at the Loseby Park community hall each Sunday from 9.15am to 10.15am. The Highlands Christadelphians currently offer a continuous series of seminars designed to help people learn how to understand the Bible for themselves. No attempt is made to teach doctrines. This is more like a "How To" guide with hints on how to allow the Bible to interpret itself. The small group currently attending includes people from 18 to about 50 years of age. It is informal, and participants are invited to contribute their questions, or simply listen to the others. All are welcome. No bookings are necessary. Come and go as you wish. Bushwalk
Southern Highland Bushwalkers Inc will tackle Doyles Pinnacle at Morton National Park on August 26. This will involve a walk down to Bundanoon Creek then up to the pinnacle for 360degree views of the valley below. This is a great walk for the adventurous suitable for fit club members only. I covers about 8km. A scond, easy walk will also be enjoyed around the View Point area with the two groups meeting up for afternoon tea. Details: Shane on 0449 671 328.
Fellowship
The Mittagong Uniting Church Sevice on August 26 at 10.00am will be led by Matthew McBurney from Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF). MAF commenced in Melbourne in 1947 and since that time has assisted in various world disasters eg 2014-2018 assisted communities in the Ebola outbreak in Boende, Nepal Earthquake, Ecuador earthquake and this year's Earthquake in PNG. Singalong
The monthly singalong at Mittagong Uniting Church will be held at the church on August 27 from 1.30pm to 3.00pm. Entertainment this month will be by the Ukulele Lassies and Laddies. VIEW club
Southern Highlands Evening VIEW Club will hold its next meeting at Mittagong RSL Club on September 10 from 6.30pm for a 7pm dinner. The club members will celebrate the Swinging 60s so come along in your bell-bottoms, tie-dyes and mini skirts. Members are asked to call Kath on 4871 3924 with apologies or guests. New members are always welcome. VIEW ladies raise funds for The Smith Family's Learning for Life students, helping disadvantaged students with their education.
