In the second last round of the competition, the under-11 and under-13 teams were in action.
The Hawks Auskick and under-9 teams had the bye.
It was touch conditions for the young players, with the wind pushing kicks backwards at times during the two matches.
Up against top of the table team Port Kembla Eagles, Hawks co-president Matt Griffiths said the Highlands side put in a good performance against a tough opponent.
“After a slow start in the first quarter we matched it with them for the remainder of the game,” he said.
“The Eagles are a pretty good running side, they’re very agile.”
Griffiths said the Hawks tackled hard and contested the ball well when it was on the ground.”
Charlie Goulder received the coach’s award.
The under-13s were down on troops in their match against the Northern District Tigers.
The Tigers provided them with some players to even the numbers up but it was still a tough match for the Hawks.
“They tried hard all day and hit the scoreboard a couple of times,” Griffiths said.
“They had some good quarters and some bad quarters. We still haven’t been able to put together a four quarter effort.”
Sam Cook received the coach’s award.
The Hawks will play their final games of the season at home on Sunday morning at Welby Oval.
