A boy has been charged over the serious assault of an elderly woman during a bag snatch in Bowral.

About 1.40pm on Friday, August 3, a 78-year-old woman parked her car on the lower ground car park of a supermarket on Boolwey Street, Bowral.
As she exited the vehicle a boy approached her from behind and grabbed her handbag, throwing the woman to the ground and dragging her for several metres.
The boy then stole the woman’s vehicle and drove from the scene.
The victim was taken to Bowral Hospital where she remains, being treated for a fractured pelvis.
Detectives from the Hume Police District commenced inquiries.
About 4.15pm on Wednesday, August 8, officers from Police Transport and Public Safety Command arrested a 16-year-old boy in the car park of St Marys Railway Station.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with aggravated steal from person causing grievous bodily harm, aggravated steal from person, steal motor vehicle, never licensed driver and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Thursday, August 9.
