Sunshine Lodge
A petition objecting to the demolition of Sunshine Lodge will be tabled at the August 8 meeting. The petition, which contains 46 signatures, objects to demolishing the existing building at 5 Alice Street, Mittagong. A development application (DA) has been submitted to council which proposes to build 14 residential apartments and a 29-room boarding house. Objections to the DA include the proposal does not suit the surrounding heritage buildings and would be overdevelopment of the site.

Regional Art Gallery
Councillors will debate council’s position on establishing a regional art gallery within the shire. The debate is expected to take place in closed council.
Community engagement and notification
Amendments to council’s community engagement and notification of development and planning proposals policy are expected to go out on public exhibition. A report will be presented at the August 8 council meeting to consider amendments to the current policy, which was adopted in 2012. The amendment seeks to provide clarity on the policy through minor administrative amendments while also making general amendments to reflect recent changes in legislation. Both internal and external consultation has taken place to make the amendments.
Local Government NSW Annual Conference
Councillors will nominate motions to be included in the Local Government NSW Annual Conference for 2018. Earlier this year, councillors voted for confirm four delegates to attend the conference in October. Proposed topics for motions include funding for NSW public libraries, permissibility of boarding houses in regional areas, the assessment process of new residential dwellings as well as alterations and additions to houses, the Crown Land Management Act and diversity among councillors in NSW councils.
