High Street’s Blooms of Bowral owner Sloan Dinning said the interests of consumers was “constantly changing”.

“Like most things, particular flowers do come in and out of trends; carnations are making a comeback,” Mr Dinning said.

“Pinterest is as a big channel amongst our customers and the number of customers using online spaces as a reference point is growing. It encourages people to know what they want.”

Mr Dinning said consumers also wanted to take matters into their own hands and learn how to arrange flowers themselves.

In-demand skills vary from cutting and weaving through to crafting flower crowns.

The latter is fast becoming a popular choice for weddings and hen’s party outings.

In particular, Mr Dinning said he saw more brides matching floral head pieces with their wedding gowns.

The business owner said customers experimented with these trends, primarily using locally-grown flowers.

“We are at the Sydney Flower Market every week and can say with confidence that some of the highest quality flowers are grown right here in the Southern Highlands,” he said.

“In our new shop we have the space to prepare and showcase the best of what this region has to offer, and support other local businesses who are doing great things.”
