Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens will host a Chelsea Flower Show dinner and talk with guest speaker Charlie Albone.
Albone was Australia’s successive winner at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2016 and 2017.
He is also a star of Lifestyle Television’s Selling Houses Australia.
As a respected landscape designer, Albone will talk about planning and preparing for the Chelsea Flower Show.
His discussion will cover the construction of the display garden, the visitation by the royal family and his wide experience in the years prior to his entry, constructing other garden displays.
The Chelsea Flower Show is a garden show held over five days every May in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London since 1912.
It is the most famous flower and landscape gardens show in the United Kingdom.
The show is attended by members of the British royal family and attracts visitors from all continents.
Highlights include the avant-garde show gardens designed by leading names with Floral Marquee at the centrepiece.
Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens chair Charlotte Webb said the committee was pleased to have Mr Albone host the event and share his insights.
“The details of what is involved in preparing an entry at this prestigious event - and from a distance - will present an opportunity for locals to hear first hand about the logistics, selection and acquisition of plants and the visit by the royal family on opening day,” Ms Webb said.
A delicious dinner with wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.
The event will be held on July 22 from 6pm to 10pm at Bendooley Estate, Old Hume Highway, Berrima.
Tickets are on sale through Destination Southern Highlands.
They will cost $95 per person and includes canapes, dinner and wine.
