The Mittagong Lions came home with the silverware after a win at an away game earlier in the season, and a win at home against the Campbelltown City Kangaroos over the weekend.
Mittagong won 36-34 in what was a down-to-the-minute game against Campbelltown on Sunday, July 15.
The score was even right before full-time until Dylan Palmer-Quigg scored a late try in the midst of vocal Campbelltown supporters.
Mittagong Lions club president Dave Elliott said he was pleased with the win.
“It’s great. It’s something that’s only just started [in 2016] but it has a lot of history,” he said.
PJ Thornton was named the player’s player for lifting the tempo of the game, while Adam Jeffery was recognised for his solid performance.
This is the second time the teams have competed for the cup, and it was a draw between both clubs at last year’s competition.
