All northbound lanes have now re-opened following an earlier crash on the Hume Highway.
The car accident occurred near Douglas Park about 2.40pm on Friday.
A person was trapped in their vehicle for some time following the incident, but they have now been released.
A Transport Management Centre spokesperson said congestion remained heavy for northbound motorists.
“Traffic is queued from Pheasants Nest, so motorists are still advised to allow plenty of extra time to travel through the area,” they said.
The site has now been cleared.
One northbound lane was closed for more than an hour, but it has now re-opened.

There are major delays on the Hume Highway following a serious crash on Friday afternoon.
The car accident occurred near Douglas Park about 2.40pm on July 13.
A person remains trapped in their vehicle.
One northbound lane is closed on the highway approaching Moreton Park Road.
Northbound traffic is queued up to 5.5km.
A Transport Management Centre spokesperson said motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time on Friday afternoon.
“Motorists are using the second northbound lane to pass the crash site, but traffic is heavy and queued from PIcton Road,” they said.
“Emergency services and traffic crews are on site working to free a person who is trapped in their vehicle.”
Motorists should expect significant delays as there is heavy traffic congestion.
Avoid the area if possible.
