Diabetes NSW and ACT CEO Sturt Eastwood said that number is growing every day and warrants an urgent call for people to know more about the condition. "To save lives, it's time the signs and symptoms of diabetes were more widely recognised,” Mr Eastwood said.
This National Diabetes Week, everyone over 40 is encouraged to ask their doctor for a free diabetes risk assessment. "Diabetes doesn't discriminate and knowing the signs and symptoms saves lives. Early diagnosis leads to better management and fewer complications, which is the best outcome for everyone.”
