The first screening of the award-winning documentary will take place at the Bundanoon Soldiers Memorial Hall on July 14 and the second at the Mittagong Playhouse on July 29. Doors for both screenings open at 12.30pm.
Council’s environmental project officer Michael Rhydderch said the film followed the journeys of Jeb Berrier as he tried to make sense of our dependence on plastic bags.
“The film explores the issue of pollution and identifies how our daily reliance on plastic threatens not only waterways and marine life, but human health too,” he said.
Following the screenings audience members will be invited to share some of their ideas on how they have reduced their plastic usage.
“Council holds numerous waste reduction courses throughout the year but often the best ideas come from our residents themselves,” Michael said.
Movie patrons will also receive a plastic-free information pack at the conclusion of the film with practical examples on how to reduce plastic usage.
Both screenings of Bag It are free to attend but bookings are essential.
