Councillors have invited representatives for Sutton Forest Quarries to provide a presentation on their plans to establish a sand quarry on the Hume Highway, near the junction of Penrose Forest Way.
The presentation is the result of a notice of motion passed at the council meeting of June 13 inviting the applicant to provide a public presentation on their future plans.
As part of this resolution a request was also made to the Department of Planning and Environment seeking an extension of two months for public submissions to be made.
This request was subsequently denied and the deadline for submissions has since expired.
The presentation is scheduled to begin at 2.30pm with councillors provided the opportunity to ask one question each at the conclusion of the presentation.
There will be no questions allowed from the public. The public presentation is scheduled to conclude at 3.20pm at which point a brief adjournment will be held before council moves into the ordinary meeting at 3.30pm.
Council reminds residents that the proposed Sutton Forest Sand Quarry is considered to be of state significance and therefore any decision on its future is to be determined by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Further details of the proposal can be found online at www.majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au.
The meeting will take place in the council chambers located in the Moss Vale Civic Centre on Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale.
All council meetings are open to the general public.
