The under-9s team were a little undermanned with coughs and colds but many still turned out to put up a strong effort against the Power.
However the Power proved to be too strong on the day winning by a couple of goals.
Hawks co-president Matthew Griffiths said they could go into next week knowing that their second half performance was something to build on.
The coach’s award went to Lachlan Cook who was a standout ball winner on the day.
The under-11s continued to show improvement.
“Again facing the team third on the ladder the score were nearly even at halftime,” Griffiths said.
“However the extra run the Power had took its toll in the second half.”
The coach’s award went to Archie Cosgriff who played his rebounding half back role to perfection.
“The bigger space of Welby Oval suited our runners and it was great to see such a competitive match from the team again.”
As with the under-9s, the under-13s were also undermanned and with good sportsmanship from Kiama the numbers were evened up.
The game was played in excellent spirits, with Kiama taking away the win.
The coach’s award went to Jake Houghton.
In only his second game for the club, he dominated the ruck tap outs.
Griffiths said with this ability on display some further centre clearance work will need to be practised at training this week.
Even through it is late in the season, he said it was not too late for children to head down to Welby Oval to try Australian Rules.
“We would love to have you a part of the club.”
