Robertson travelled down the coast to play the Magpies and had a narrow 26-22 defeat.
Captain’coach Damien Barton said it was another frustrating game where the Spuddies got out in front but “threw it away in the last half”.
The Spuddies have had several close losses this season in the Group 7 competition and Barton said it was frustrating to lose, knowing they could compete with any team in the competition on their day.
He said a couple of “silly mistakes” in each game were costing the Spuddies wins.
“We are doing enough to win the game, we’re just not coming away with the two points,” he said.
Robertson now sits eighth on the ladder out of nine teams.
But Barton said he was still pleased the side continued to improve each week.
“We’re competing which is the main thing. [But] we need to learn how to grind out a game but we’re definitely improving and we’ve not gone backwards in the last few weeks.
“If we can get in front we need to learn how to control it and put sides away.”
Jake Temporali, James Cox and Adam Kich all scored for Robertson on the weekend.
This Saturday the Spuddies will be back on the road to take on Wreck Bay United. in what will be another tough match. Reserve grade also lost on the weekend, going down 22-14 against Jamberoo Superoos. This Sunday, Robertson will face Berry Shoalhaven Heads Magpies.
